I received some difficult news today and sat down at the computer and opened this message. Again God works in ways that I do not understand, but I do know He is working these out for my growth. Thank you for these "kind and comforting" words.

Good on you! I saw an interview recently where Joel responded to the homosexual question with "That is not God's best plan." But that is as far as he would go. May your tribe increase!

I, too, remember the liver and onions. I actually liked it as a child. I am not sure I would now.

Good Friday is a paradox like everything else about God. The introduction of the puritan prayers in the book, THE VALLEY OF VISION says it all:

Lord, High and Holy, Meek and Lowly
Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision,
where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights;
hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold thy glory.

Let me learn by paradox
the way down is the way up,
that to be low is to be high,
that the broken heart is the healed heart,
that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit,
that the repenting soul is the victorious soul,
that to have nothing is to possess all,
that to bear the cross is the wear the crown,
that to give is to receive,
that the valley is the place of vision.

Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from the deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter thy stars shine.

Let me find thy light in my darkness,
thy life in my death,
thy joy in my sorrow,
thy grace in my sin,
thy riches in my poverty,
thy glory in my valley.

My favorite Michael Card song, God's Own Fool, says it well also. I won't write out the entire lyrics, you can search it online but one of the verses goes like this:

Find the courage to say I believe
For the power of paradox opens your eyes
And blinds those who say they can see.

Praise God that He has opened our eyes so that we can see our Savior. Many eyes remain blinded. For them Good Friday is only TGIF because it is the end of the work week. To believers it is the beginning of eternity with our Lord and Creator and Savior.

Lynn and I had a visit this week from a couple that had attended ERC one Sunday with us. She said that they had enjoyed their "visit" with our church, but after reading our home site did not agree with some of the "political" ideas. (I'd wondered if she ment to say doctrine). However, we were glad to see this artical posted by you. I'vd been listening to "Cross & the Crescent" CD by R.C. Sproul and this is exactly what this is on.

I think that worship can be joyful and reverent at the same time. Some days are different than others, but when the moment is right we can truly worship God with reverence and joy in the confidence we have before Him through the blood of His Son. Other days may turn out to be more somber or reverent in a bowing down singing Holy Holy Holy and Worthy is the Lamb that was slain while we acknowledge our sin and His righteousness.

I'm told as soon as the ink dries from the pen of the Governor, opposition signatures of 120000 is all that is needed to get a opposing referendum on the Nov. ballot. I'm praying for Bible believing Christians in Washington State to come out and sign petitions so that we can vote against this evil. I am also praying it can be ultimately defeated in November, Lord willing we get it on the ballot. Thank you Pastor for your righteous indignation over the flagrant disregard for God's Word. It is well placed and my husband and I join you in it.
